Melancholy and Creativity
Depression and states of melancholy are often interpreted as a sign that something “is wrong.” This can lead to analyzing “reasons” for the emotional lows that convince us we need to fix something. But what if this aspect of our emotional life is built-in to serve a greater purpose?
In Human Design, melancholy is deeply tied to an evolving emotional process, and to individual circuitry. Instead of looking at emotional ups and downs as being “good” or “bad,” seeing how they are a function of chemistry through our individual Gates and Channels illustrates that they are a mutative force to use as a vehicle for creativity.
Join Ra as he discusses the topics of Melancholy and Creativity in the context of the BodyGraph, and explains how feelings of sadness can be used for personal transformation. This one-hour lecture, which now includes a new eBook transcript (here's a sample) and a screen recording of Ra's original classroom presentation, was originally aired live in the fall of 2009.
